Following the war, we intend to erect a Kyiv monument with a plaque commemorating hundreds of Ukrainian women volunteers who like a Phoenix have arisen from their destroyed families and homes to learn new skills to help others.

These women have emerged from desperation, poverty, grief & loss, to learn from us our specialized skills as midwives, nursing assistants, childcare workers & medivac drivers. Meeting these Ukrainian women has been a life-changing experience for us.

Our plan is to use a small piece of real estate being donated for the purpose, in Kyiv for what will be a celebrated artistic statute representing these glorious women and thank the backers of their efforts helping women and kids survive the smashing of their homes in Ukraine.

There is a crowdfunding project for this.

We have over 1,000 humanitarian workers in Ukraine, across the troubled nation. They need your support.

Too often have the needs of women and girls in conflict settings been side-lined and treated as an afterthought.

In Ukraine, a RINJ Women humanitarian resource team led by Alona Adamovich since 2012 has been struggling this year following a year of massive growth to fill massive needs of a crumbling population and their homes. Under the weight of the destruction in Ukraine, we are in trouble.

I must tell you that hundreds of volunteers have come from the general displaced population. Women and girls who have lost their partners or family are now working to help others. Some you can meet at rinj.org/ukraine

We provide shelters, clinics and women’s medical services like birthing clinics and natal care help. We do the humdrum emergency service nobody notices until a bomb falls on us and then it is a brief blip on the news. Babies, moms killed. Nobody notices. We deliver women’s babies, provide pre-and-post natal care and deal with women’s medical issues on a broad scale as we do in many places in the world.

But shelter for women and their kids is the number one request for service.

Here in Ukraine, there are many millions of displaced women and kids.

“I swear, this is the worst nightmare we have seen, worse than Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan but not worse than Yemen where we and UNICEF, like here in Ukraine, fight just to keep the hungry and injured children alive,” says Alona Adamovich.

At least five evacuations of shelters have depleted our resources this year and we are trying to raise an immediate $500,000.00 to pay overdue accounts and purchase more meds, equipment and supplies. (We lost everything we had in Bakhmut.) We also need incubators and generators. During evacuations they may get left behind. They are expensive and don’t last long in war zones, but an empty incubator is no loss, an occupied incubator is a nightmare when the shells land on our basement shelters.

Another Challenge we face is combatting the kidnap of children and the flourishing child sex trade rings that have sprung up in Ukraine, fed by bands of soldiers and fake NGOs which herd children collected by roving armed men and sell them off in other eastern European countries.

We realize that crowdfunding for women and children is a difficult ask. People prefer to buy weapons.

We have two decades of experience in war zones helping the vulnerable and the marginalized. Our operations in Afghanistan have shown us the horrors that can be brought by evil men. Without making specific reference to any race or sector, in Ukraine it is the same problem. Women suffer more than the men fighting the war.

We are in Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Ethiopia, Philippines, Venezuela and more. We know what we are doing. The millions from corporations that pay for our operations are dwindling because nobody is giving.  Will you?

The people we care for are now desperate.
