Islam’s Treatment of Women

Whereas Islam has some beautiful attributes, its treatment of women is arguably inhumane and certainly abusive.

The RINJ Foundation has five primary concerns about how adherents to Islamist Culture treat women.

  1. Women are compelled to cover themselves from head to foot;
  2. The practice of Female Genital Mutilation–the removal of the clitoris.;
  3. Women in Muslim homes endure the highest levels of domestic abuse;
  4. Honour killing (and honour *attacks.) Official community decisions are made to kill women who leave their husbands; commit adultery; get raped; or in any manner stray from the chattel status they have with their family or husband; and
  5. Child marriage. Although many communities do not subscribe to this philosophy and advocate 16 years of age as a minimum age for marriage, millions do believe that a female should be married at the time of reaching puberty.

* In the United Kingdom abduction, mutilations, beatings, acid attacks and murder were the ingredients in 3000 incidents of “honour attacks” in 2010.

RINJ Advocates Change and Modernization of Islamic Culture

In the United States an organization that calls itself Muslims For Progressive Values (MPV) is pushing for change and urging Imams and Islamic scholars to defy traditional, discriminatory practices within the Muslim community.

At the March 2015 United Nations Commission on the Status of Women Session 59, Muslims for Progressive Values hosted a panel discussion to highlight the intersection between policy and religion and specifically, the compatibility between women’s human rights and Islam. This panel particularly serves to empower Imams and Islamic scholars from the West and the Global South who are promoting women’s rights, who are supporting gender equality initiatives and who are taking a stance against violence against women. The RINJ Foundation has adduced its concerns as set out above.

Power and Control Is Behind Islamic Abuse of Women

The intent of the Muslim oppression of women is sexual sovereignty over the females who are intrinsically owned by men. The theory behind the aspects of enforcing sexual loyalty in Islam, is firstly by removing “sexual desire” and “drive” (libido) from the sensations or feelings a woman has, by removing her clitoris (female genital mutilation) (in the use of FGM, many religions have the same motive), or severing the nerves involved. This is often done in a brutally crude surgery between the ages of 2 and 6, and often later in life depending on the region and circumstance.

Within the human species the conduct of males in the routines of procreation is that of an aggressor whereas the female is the shapely, beautiful and attractive target of the male’s interest, and the bearer of offspring. In the simplest of terms, the male and female hormones are capable of eliciting significant spontaneous mental and physical responses once invoked acutely. To foil this process, early-day Muslim thinkers removed the attractiveness of women from head to foot. Married women wear black garments covering themselves completely. Unmarried women may wear other colours.

Women who are raped are often killed in the Islamic Ummah because of the process of “honour killing” or “honour attacks”. This is a global problem and accounts for a very large portion of the total number of rapes in the world. Over 1.6 billion or about 23.4% of the world population are Muslims

It is within Muslim families that physically violent abuse toward women is most prevalent says the U.N. Committee on the Status of Women. Again, this is a serious global problem because of the high percentage of Muslims in the world population.

The Canadian debate About Women Wearing a Niqab in Canadian Citizenship Swearing in Ceremonies

The RINJ Foundation has no opinion on what people wear for garments however it does have an opinion about the discussion that evolved from a Canadian debate on the wearing of a Niqab (full body coverings) at Canadian Citizenship ceremonies.

Why not?

Why not?

Participants in the debate have implied that women are being discriminated against by challenging their right to cover their faces in Canadian Citizenship ceremonies whereas in reality, women are forced to wear this type of garment by an oppressive culture that is anti-women’s rights.

The Canadian Prime Minister Harper made a comment in the Canadian House of Commons about a culture that is anti-women. We presume reasonably that one can assume the Prime Minister meant “a culture that is anti-women’s rights” as nobody in the human race is openly against there being females of the species.

The RINJ Foundation adduces that Islam is indeed “a culture that is anti-women’s rights” and moreover its treatment of women is arguably inhumane and certainly abusive.

For as long as the authorities have been able to identify the person and are satisfied that the person has completed all of the necessary prerequisites to become a Canadian, The RINJ Foundation has no opinion whatsoever on what a person wears to such a ceremony. The beauty of a free society is that originality and creativity are encouraged not quashed, so wear what you yourself choose to wear and please respect others as you would wish to be respected yourself.

#Trudeau wrong #Harper is correct. Islam is a "culture that is anti-women". Come live with us in Mosul, Justin.
