Toronto – Wednesday, April 10, 2013 — The board of directors of The RINJ Foundation, a Toronto, Canada-based Not-For-Profit NGO, has announced on its Facebook page that an investigation has begun into the alleged sexual assault of a Nova Scotia teenage girl (Rehtaeh Parsons, 17) who recently took her own life following allegations of rape by four male persons and persistent bulling over a period stretching from November 2011 until the present time.

The Executive Director of The RINJ Foundation, Micheal O’Brien released a terse statement earlier today in which he said, “The RINJ Foundation inquiry will be conducted by professional investigators and is brought about by the lack of information in the process; a lack of trust in the public infrastructure for the investigation of such matters; and because of the dramatic rise in this type of criminal victimization of children and women.

“The ‘culture of secrecy’ in these types of matters”, said the director, “is a recipe for promoting crime and needs to be shattered into pieces. People of all ages who commit crimes of rape and bullying must be brought to justice no matter their age and no matter who their parents may be.”
