A police officer lost an eye and another of many heroic Capitol Police Officers was killed when Donald Trump, who can work up a crowd better than Hitler did, said he would lead rioters to the Capitol Building to “fight like hell”.
It is about preventing future violence that is tied to winning or losing elections.
Trump’s militias, the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys led rioters on 6 January 2021 in a deliberate, planned campaign to kill the US Vice President and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The Trump militias were thwarted by US Capitol Police Officers whose guile allowed them to create diversions for rioters while they smuggled the entire Senate and Congress (by 2:30 p.m.) plus the US Vice President and his “Football of Nuclear Codes” (by 2:14 p.m.) to safety.
The RINJ Women are asking that many of these courageous officers be decorated for their heroism. They saved lives. They lost one of their own. (Read: Tribute to a hero the world has noted. Brian Sicknick)
Rioters then took over the US Capitol Building for hours.
Some six persons died as a result of the violence and over 100 hundred persons including many police were injured and required medical attention.
Tears for a fallen USCP hero, Brian Sicknick who died from injuries received during the 6 January Capitol Building Violence.
For months, Trump knew he would lose the election hence he began a campaign claiming that if he lost it would only be because of election fraud.
“We think that was a strategy adduced by Russian Advisors to Rudy Giuliani,” says RINJ Executive Director for America.
“When it all failed, the president held a rally on the National Mall and sent the angry crowd to march on the Capitol and stop Congress from declaring Mr. Biden the winner of the presidency,” notes the Editorial Board of the New York Times.
The words of the New York Times Editorial Board are thoughtfully considered:
“The attack on the Capitol on Wednesday [6 January] was not a spontaneous eruption of violence. It was the culmination of a campaign waged by the president of the United States and his allies in Congress and the right-wing media to overturn the results of a free and fair election that began even before the ballots began to be counted on Election Day.
“That campaign involved a barrage of lies about the integrity of the voting process from the president, his allies and other elected Republicans. It included farcical legal challenges that were laughed out of court even as they sowed doubt in the minds of a majority of Republicans about whether Joe Biden won fairly. It involved the president and his allies strong-arming state election officials to change the vote count outright. When it all failed, the president held a rally on the National Mall and sent the angry crowd to march on the Capitol and stop Congress from declaring Mr. Biden the winner of the presidency. The riot came at the cost of at least five lives and shook the confidence of the nation and the world in the stability of American democracy.”
