Censorship. When society normalizes sexualized violence, it accepts & creates 'Rape Culture'.

Censorship

RINJ

The RINJ Foundation Is seeking an end to pro-rape page content on Facebook seeking inappropriate censorship? No.

Facebook is a social networking web site whereat users provide free content and Facebook sells that content for a substantial fee at an unprecedented profit. Facebook is not a legitimate news media and censorship is not at issue. Freedom of speech is not at issue either. It's a family social network site whereat there are strict rules that insist on censorship.

Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) sets out: ...[Freedom of speech and expression may] "therefore be subject to certain restrictions" when necessary "for respect of the rights or reputation of others" or "for the protection of national security or of public order, or of public health or morals"

Go scream "BOMB" in the pre-boarding room at your nearest airport. You'll be censored.

Try and say "f*ck" in a post on our "Rape Is No Joke" Community page (https://www.facebook.com/rape.is.no.joke). It's filtered such that it will be flagged as spam. Notice the background color goes to grey so that administrator can spot it--so that readers can decide if they want to read the off-colour content or not. . Why filtering? Because the page of the audience is substantially under 18 and because it is a social networking internet site for the family and some filtering of content of is the responsible thing to do.

Facebook's users are 13+. Facebook provides the tools for content filtering. >

 Some people who set up "Community" pages and appoint themselves as moderators/administrators" do not use Facebook's filtering tools properly. But Facebook censors all the time. As of late it is impossible to start a group or a page with the word "rape" in it. Censorship? What the hell are you talking about? t's a place where children play. Let's forbid death threats and forbid encouraging rape and a few other things, ok?

‣ From time immemorial, rape has been regarded as spoils of war. Now it will be considered a war crime. We want to send out a strong message that rape is no longer a trophy of war but a serious war crime. ~ The RINJ Foundation

We want to prevent Facebook, a commercial entity that sells the content we provide, from selling advertising on its pro-rape content pages. Regardless of your uninformed, misplaced mental meanderings about freedom of the press, Facebook is not the press. Censorship is not at issue.

Facebook is not the news media but an overgrown corporate monster that is now dictating social morality, crime and punishment, based on hit counts and advertising dollars.

Media outlets are compelled to uphold the law and must not say or do anything that exploits the freedom of expression to the point of instigating crime. Rape is a crime, not a joke.

We think about getting that monster, Facebook, back under control. Facebook should not decide the morality of society. We the people of society do that.

Rape is not a joke. Rape is a crime. Doing anything at all to encourage sexual assault is also a crime. If it is not in your jurisdiction, then it should be.

‣ End malicious & hateful ideologies fuelling gender-based violence & terrorism by leveraging the rule of law, winning gender parity, energizing our tolerant kindness, caring, & sharing. "RINJ Women must radiate these values in our collective tasks. Women are half the world's community members. Our duty to step up to build better communities is compelling. RINJ Women as a Civil Society Organization seek sustainable human development from a position of perceived feminine helplessness rudely imposed on women by a patriarch to which women traditionally acquiesced. So yes, we rise up above the misconception of weakness to love & support women and children, especially the most vulnerable. While we strive for all our rights we encourage others to join us.

What do feminists want for women:

  1. an equal opportunity for education;
  2. equal opportunity to drive vehicles and use any form of transportation;
  3. fair and equal wages;
  4. freedom from discrimination;
  5. no restrictions on owning property; and
  6. to be safe from violence and slavery.
